Technology
Effective protection of raw materials and performance control over time, with flexible solutions for liquid and solid formulations.
Microencapsulation is an advanced industrial technology that protects tiny portions of substances, whether liquid or solid, by enclosing them within an ultrathin gelatin membrane, with sizes ranging from 20 to 1,500 μm depending on the product type.
The result of microencapsulation can be twofold: it is possible to obtain microcapsules in aqueous suspension or dry microcapsules, ideal for solid formulations and for easier storage within industrial microencapsulation processes.
In both cases, each microcapsule preserves the chemical and physical properties of the encapsulated material, enabling improved stability, durability, and product performance.
IPS applies microencapsulation to develop innovative products and solutions, tailoring each project to specific customer requirements and to different industrial application fields.
Advantages of Microencapsulation
Microencapsulation offers numerous functional and application advantages designed to optimize performance, safety, and raw material management.
-
GREATER PRODUCT STABILITY
Microencapsulation creates a physical barrier around the raw material, protecting it from oxidation, moisture, light, heat, and pathogenic microorganisms, preserving its properties during storage and transport. -
CONTROLLED RELEASE
Microcapsules can be designed to activate the reaction or release of the raw material depending on the required application: changes in pH, temperature, UV radiation, or mechanical action such as friction and membrane rupture, typical of industrial controlled release systems. -
SAFETY AND REDUCTION OF INTERACTIONS BETWEEN RAW MATERIALS
Microencapsulation makes it possible to isolate individual raw materials within the membrane that, in their natural state, would react with each other. -
COMPATIBILITY WITH COMPLEX INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES
Microcapsules can be easily integrated into coatings, resins, polymer materials, adhesives, and lubricants without compromising the final properties of the product, ensuring full compatibility with complex industrial processes. -
REDUCTION OF VOLATILITY AND ODORS
By encapsulating volatile or odorous substances, environmental dispersion is prevented, improving comfort and safety during production. -
VERSATILITY OF FORM AND STATE
Possibility to obtain aqueous suspensions, dry microcapsules, or microgels, adapting to different production needs and industrial applications. -
IMPROVED FLOWABILITY
Many chemical products, in liquid and oily form, become easier to handle thanks to microencapsulation, which transforms liquid and oily substances into free-flowing powders.
